Classic Cars

Can you remember back to a time when cars were real? I mean made of good heavy metal. A time when they all had character. They didn't all look the same.

A time when you could tell a mile away that a Chevy or a Ford was coming because of the identifying characteristics. The rumble or roar of the engine. Every car had its own spicific sound and we knew all of them.

That was a time when all cars had a class of their own. Back them we all had our own favorite car and we worked on it everyday to make it shine, run smooth and stand out in the crowd because it was ours and we were proud of it.

Those were the good old days, rock and roll, poodle skirts and white bucks. The rock and roll music blasting on the speakers or at a local sock hop. Cruising the gut till all hours of the night.

Remember it? Sure you do. You remember it and it reminds you of the car you had. The way it shined and the sound those glass pak mufflers made when you hit the peddle.

Too bad our kids can't remember things like that. Well, they can, if your vacation includes a trip to the many car shows located in Oregon.

You can find many other classic cars at the annual Cruiz the Coos in Coos Bay. Each year the streets are blocked off and the air is filled with nostalgia as 400 to 500 cars from the 50's, 60's and 70's  come to life on a Saturday night.

See it all here Cruiz The Coos

On the following Sunday all those cars are lined up at the beautiful Shore Acres State Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean for the show and shine event waiting for the judges to pick the best of the best in several categories.

You are sure to find  something to remind you of a time long forgotten. Here is a fine example, a 1964 Ford Falcon. This car spent a summer or two as a backyard restoration project. When first purchased it was in bad shape and in need of a complete engine rebuild plus many other parts and paint.

As you plan your vacation to the world of classic cars take in the Graffiti Weekend at Roseburg. Every year for the past 28 years Roseburg's Graffiti Weekend events have been showing the west coast some of the finest of the favorite old machines.

This event also includes a show and shine where the people can have a close up look at the past.

Take a look at some of the excitement at

Graffiti Weekend Fine cars, family fun and plain old excitement.

If you can't arrange your vacation plans to include Cruiz the Coos or Graffiti Weekend there is another car show wit lots of enjoyment in the sleepy little town of Myrtle Point. More cars, more fun, more excitement. Check it out and put it on your calendar.
