This is probably the shortest page in this entire website. It is about Ghost Towns. Every state in the union has at least one Ghost Town.

Some are very old and in need of a lot of help while others are not nearly as old. Some are old but not deserted.

When you think of a ghost town you automatically think of old and vacant with falling down buildings and others in a bad state of repair.

Some town that has long ago fallen on hard times and was abandoned leaving only history and mystery behind.

We would not be surprised to even find a few friendly (I hope) ghosts wondering around doing whatever it is that ghosts do.

There are many reasons for a town to die and become a ghost town but the most common reason is due to mining.

Gold mines dried up, not enough gold left in the streams and rivers to be worthwhile forcing ranchers and farmers to return to the chore they knew before.

At any rate the ghost towns still dot the countryside with a whole world of interesting history. Ghost towns are one of the American Travelers favorite adventures.

Everyone who visits a ghost town hopes they can accidentally stumble across a long lost relic of the past. Something they can boast about and be known for discovering. Me Too.

There are a lot of people who make it an annual event to tour another ghost town. Year after year they make a trip into the mystery land of yesteryear.

I said this would be a short page, but I seem to be consumed by the past history. I am one of those people who would love to just tour ghost towns.

I have already mentioned somewhere in this site several old ghost towns but there are many, many more scattered across the deserts, plains and mountain areas.

Here is an address to ghost towns of the USA. You pick a state then a town and you are there. Ghost Towns of the USA

Here is another site on the same subject. It is the site of The Road Wanderer. And still another. This one is a photo site. You might find it interesting. Ghost Town photography.

I hope you find this page of interest. I know I did.

If there is a ghost town you would like to know more about just enter it below and hit the search button.

Happy searching!
