No California vacation would be complete without a visit to the movie capital of the world. TINSEL TOWN! That's right, a visit to Tinsel Town. HOLLYWOOD.

Movies and movie stars, mansions and money. Classic cars and the people who drive them.

There is a world of history in the movie studios of the Hollywood area of the state. History of the stars like Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, Kirk Douglas and James Stewart. Others like the famous James Dean and Elvis Presley.

Inside the movie studios you can find the story of progress from the silent movies to the introduction of sound and the ever changing colors. The small screen to the big screens of today.

Many years ago my father worked for the once KING of the studios MGM. His position was that of Prop builder. He built miniature homes, barns and cowboy towns. He even placed an artificial forest inside a warehouse.

He worked on the set of the movie "Gone With The Wind" staring Clark Gable and which is still today considered to be the best movie made.

He later worked on another famous film produced in the MGM studios "The Yearling" staring Gregory Peck. The settings and props have made drastic changes over the years.

In the early years most of the films were mostly done inside one large warehouse with many props being built and changed often.

Another famous studio of the past (and present) is Warner Bros Studios. Take the tour and walk the same place that yesterdays stars walked. Follow the path of Humphrey Bogart, Doris Day, James Cagney and Gary Cooper.
