Why Oregon?

Why not Oregon?

The big question is why visit Oregon on your next vacation? And the answer is, Why Not?

There is a lot more to Oregon than most people ever see. Oh sure, people see it on a map and they read about it in the news. People think it rains most of the time and Oregon is either flooded or covered with snow.

How wrong could they be. There is rain but not all the time. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years day you can expect to see the sun shinning bright with no clouds in the sky. And not just on those days. There are a lot of unexpected days of sunshine.

The state doesn't do a rock and roll from an earthquake or get blown away by hurricanes and tornados either. There has not been any volcano action that I have ever heard about.

There is only a minimal amount of flooding and only a few areas in the eastern part of the state ever get a ground covering of snow.

The state is home to some of the finest beaches where many people find it a pleasure to do a little surfing, swimming and fishing.

Charter fishing boats are some of the exciting pastime activities for any avid fisherman. You can catch your own prize fish from the charter boat or you can buy

it right off the fishing vessel itself.

Oregon is also home to the deepest lake in the nation. Crater Lake is located inland from the coast and is 1,943 feet deep. It is a must see for any visitor.

In the winter months snow can be found on and around the lake area and visitors are surprised at the view offered. Many make it an annual visit.

Another fine lake visit is Diamond Lake for both summer and winter fun. It is bathed in sunshine in the summer and covered with snow in the winter. Here is a photo for your enjoyment. (click to enlarge)

Oregon also has 9 lighthouses that guard the coastline. 5 are still in use today and the remaining 4 are designated as national monuments.

There are more ghost towns located (or lost) in Oregon than in any other state. A real thrill for the ghost town enthusiast.

There is enough history in Oregon to occupy any visitor for many hours of adventure.

These are just a few of the why's in visiting Oregon but to find all the reason you should put it on your list of things to do. Do it soon and give Oregon the attention it deserves.

We will be looking forward to your visit.
